Travel & Stay

WeddingSantorini.jpg

Since there are no direct flights from North America to Santorini (JTR), you will need to make at least one

connection. For a first-timer, the journey is half the fun—as long as you know which "hop" to choose.

Here are the two best ways to get from the US to Santorini:

1. The "Athens Hop" (Most Popular & Reliable)

This is the most common route. Guests fly from a major US hub (like JFK, Newark, Chicago, or Atlanta)

directly to Athens (ATH), then take a short domestic flight to the island.

  • The Journey:

    • A ~9–10 hour transatlantic flight followed by a 45-minute flight to Santorini.

  • Airlines:

    • Major US carriers (Delta, United, American, Emirates) fly into Athens. For the second leg, use Aegean Airlines or Sky Express.

  • Pro Tip:

    • If booking separate tickets, allow at least 3 hours between landing in Athens and the Santorini flight to clear customs and re-check bags.

2. The "European Hub" (Recommended)

Instead of Athens, guests can connect through a major European city. This is often the most comfortable

way to travel if they aren't starting in a city that flies directly to Athens.

  • The Journey:

    • Fly to a hub like London (LHR), Paris (CDG), Frankfurt (FRA), or Munich (MUC), then fly directly from there to Santorini.

  • Airlines:

    • British Airways (via London), Air France (via Paris), or Lufthansa (via Munich/Frankfurt).

  • Pro Tip:

    • This option is great because you skip the "Athens double-handling" of luggage. Your bags are usually checked all the way through to Santorini.

Why We Love It

Nefeli Homes - Imerovigli

Best Value. Adults-only with a stunning rooftop pool. Currently 49% off standard rates!

Andronikos Hotel - Imerovigli

Top Rated (4.9/5). Very sophisticated and quiet, perfect for a romantic getaway.

Above Blue Suites - Imerovigli

The Full Experience. Includes a famous champagne breakfast and incredible caldera views.

Phaos Santorini Suites - Fira

Central & Social. Steps away from the best nightlife, shopping, and the main bus station.

✨ Pro Tip: Santorini hotels are small (often only 5–10 rooms per property). We highly recommend booking as soon as possible to lock in these rates, as September is one of the island's busiest months!

A Quick Guide to the Villages
  • Imerovigli: The "balcony of Santorini." Quiet, upscale, and sunset-facing. Best for a relaxing stay.

  • Firostefani: A peaceful village tucked right between the action of Fira and the views of Imerovigli.

  • Fira: The capital. Busy, fun, and full of shops and bars. Great if you want to be in the heart of everything.

We’re so excited to celebrate with you in Santorini.

For the best island experience, we recommend staying in central Santorini, particularly around Fira,

Firostefani or Imerovigli. These areas offer stunning caldera views, beautiful boutique hotels, and

easy access to the island’sbest restaurants, sunsets, and nightlife. Staying in or near these villages

keeps you immersed in the magic of Santorini and conveniently close to the celebration weekend

events. Think golden-hour cocktails, whitewashed architecture, and dancing under the Grecian sky.

We can’t wait to share this unforgettable weekend with you!
